Thought I'd try a different tack this Wed. I am going to just put up the lyric, and see if any of you know the song. I will post the answer later. (after I wake up)
Mother, mother ocean, I have heard you call
Wanted to sail upon your waters since I was three feet tall
You've seen it all, you've seen it all
Watched the men who rode you switch from sails to steam
In your belly you hild the treasures few have ever seen
Most of 'em dreams, most of 'em dreams
yes I am a pirate, two-hundred years too late
The cannons don't thunder, there's nothin' to plunder
I'm an over-forty victim of fate
Arrivin' too late, arrivin' too late
I've done a bit of smugglin', I've run my share of grass
I made enough money to buy Miami, but I pissed it away so fast
Never meant to last, never meant to last
And I have been drunk now for over two weeks
I passed out and I rallied and I sprung a few leaks
But I gotta stop wishin', I've got to go fishin'
Down to rock bottom again
Just a few friends, just a few friends
Just a few friends, just a few friends

Not Jimmy Buffet-
no prize for you, Naughty Sybil!
It's Glenn Frey, post-Eagles, right?
Is is Jack Johnson...Pirate looks at 40 ?
Yeah, Jimmy Buffet. Unless you're thinking of a cover.
curse the buffet.
Hey I never gave permission for anypone to write a song about me.
Moonbeam wins, it is Jack Johnson, A Pirate Looks at 40.
And, it's not a cover, either, he wrote it
Thanks for playing. Moonbeam, do you want a prize? I can send you something, or do something strange like let you pick my next blog topic or something along those lines. . .
just let me know!
Awww, thank you. Oh a prize....how about a trip to Las Vegas for myself and the whole gang here who commented, and of course yourself?? :)
Just kidding!!.
Naww....I dont need a prize, it was fun. I will take a raincheck on a blog topic in the future. How bout that? Or, if you decide to send us all to Vegas that's cool. :)
Thanks again!
JACK JOHNSON DID A COVER!!!! It's Jimmy Buffet!
I used to sing that song to my daughters in the middle of the night when they were babies and wouldn't sleep. I only know the Jimmy Buffet version.
Ironically, my kids hate the song now. I'm not sure if there's a connection.
alright fine so you can all win. I don't ever listen to Buffet, so there. ALL of you can suggest a blog topic, because I sure can't afford to send you all to Vegas. Next time I do this I am picking a harder song! LOL
ps moonbeam since you are the only one capable of reading my mind, you can suggest a blog topic at your leisure. Sigh, I suppose all of you can, but Moonbeam still technically wins for being the mindreader.
Not everybody. I lose either way. I thought it was Glenn Frey's Smuggler's Blues.
I looked it up after I posted my answer. I figgered looking it up first was cheating.
Next time, I cheat! :)
BTW, Jack Johnson does and AWESOME version of John Lennon's "Imagine" on the Save Darfur Album.
yes, I bought that album after seeing it on your website, and I LOVE the way he did Imagine. I play it almost daily.
