I've been holding out on you guys.
Not intentionally. Call it a case of denial, initially, then, after the initial part? Well. Hope springs eternal.
I know I have posted here and there about sore shoulders ect. ect. from work. The pain usually goes away.
The problem is, my pain did go away, but my right hand? Almost totally numb. I can't feel my finger tips, especially my first three fingers. I can't make a fist, I can write, but barely, and it's sloppy. I can type, so far, it just feels wierd. MM had to cut my meat at dinner the other night, and that was very difficult for me to have to admit. But it hurts like a MF'er when I try to do any of those particular things.
So, here is the skinny.
I broke down and went to the doctor, as much as I hate to that. It seems that it's a high probability that I have carpal tunnel, and on top of that, some sort nerve inpingement in my neck.
The sum of it all? I cannot work. I am officially on a medical leave of absence. Until when? Who knows. Until I see the specialist, and we come up with a plan to get me past this. I have this feeling, though, that I am going to end up having carpal tunnel surgery.
Yesterday, figuring all this out, I had my freak out moment. It's scary when someone tells you that you can't work. Today? I am more 'meh', about it. I just want the feeling to come back to my hand. If I can't make a fist, how can I punch someone?

I'm really glad you went to the doc, I know how you feel about that. I hope it all goes well. I remember something similar going on with my hand, my fingers turned purple, turns out in my case it was tendinitis. Lots of physical therapy followed, hot paraffin dips and having to wear a brace whenever I wasn't showering. My boyfriend at the time had to cut my meat and fasten my bra for me.
It sucks, but I know you will be okay... listen to your doctor you stubborn girl and in the mean time if you need to punch someone... just kick them instead.
xoxo
KICK them silly!!!
:)
That sucks, but I am glad you went. 'Bout time you found out what was up!!!!
Now the healing can begin!
Well, now's a good time to start crafting some homemade gifts!
Oh - craft those gifts with your feet!
My god. I should drink less.
Haha
If you need to punch somebody use your left hand. I just recently had carpal tunnel surgery, so I can relate about the loss of one hand, simple things become impossible. Asking for the help you need is extremely hard to do too. Good luck, I hope you're able to figure it all out and get something done quickly.
Oh no! I'm so sorry to hear. You have my thoughts and prayers. And, take care of yourself, my friend.
Terrible news, Mielikki. I hope things take a turn for the better for you soon. On a positive note, with Thanksgiving and Christmas coming up, I hope you can make the best of your forced time off.
Dude! WTF? I am soo sorry to hear that! I know what it's like to not be able to use your hand.
I really hope you get the surgery, from what I understand, it works very well, with a quick recovery. Why am I telling you that, I'm sure you know!
I have so many other things I could say to you.. but the most important is take care of yourself.
I hope you can at least enjoy your time off!
oh and kick kick kick! and if not, elbows work pretty well too!
Yikes!
Good luck. You gotta put your hand and in the hands of the medical professional you trust and get on with it.
In the meantime, we'll all be hoping swift-and-easy-and- complete-revoverytype hopes.
On the fist thing: use your rapier wit. :)
thanks all.
Kicking is a good solution, so is my rapier wit. Problem? The med that they want me to take kind of makes my brain numb, too. This time off should be very interesting. . .
I am already wandering around the apt. muttering at the cats.
Yo, good meds, too? Why are you complainin'?! Haha
That sucks! I hope you're 100% soon!
