Christmas tree's, redux

I asked Lori, over on Fairytales and Margaritas a question I generally try to ask many many people.
Christmas Tree, live, or fake?
I don't know why I ask this question, but I do.
I love nothing more than a live tree. Even if it sat naked in my living room the entire time I would love it. But it doesn't. (sit naked, that is.)
My mom, in her quest for the "matchy matchy" tree that Lori describes, has given her children all the old, nostalgic tree ornaments, and gotten her matching ones.
My tree is always a hodge podge of those old ornaments, and the ones I've collected over the years. I can tell a story about each and every ornament on my tree, and often think of their stories as I am hanging them. It never fails to bring a smile to my face.
Yes, I get a live tree. But I have learned, that the trees, when they are done gracing my home, get put to use in various lakes, making tree reefs for the fishies. That's kind of cool. I have, also at times, gotten a live tree. Middle sister has lots of property where my tree can go after. But the living trees are not big enough to house my memories. And I don't think I should get a bunch of little trees and put them around the house. But. Actually. That might be an idea. . .

I always think it's so funny that EVERYONE is always so opinionated on this topic.

I love the concept of a real tree, but not the actually execution of making it work. I do let the kids put all of the handmade, passed down ornaments on the big tree. But, they aren't allowed to touch my blue fairy tree!

1 tree and some smaller ones.
Good idea.

My mom's allergic to the real trees, so I grew up with a fake tree. When I moved out on my own it seemed natural to go buy a fake tree. Your post brought back some really fond memories. Now I may have to blog about some of my favorites.

As a child we once had an aluminum tree with a rotating light, red, green, orange, yellow, red, green, orange, yellow...you get the picture. Ever since then I have been a fan of real trees. Trouble is, some of the places we have lived made that difficult. In California we could always get a good one, not so elsewhere.

I've always had a real tree. I love coming home, out of the cold, into that smell, that christmas tree smell.

I could also tell a story about every ornament, including the little drummer boy that has no arms, and the evil snowman.

And the cats love to sleep on the skirt under the tree too.

My mom has the 'everything matches' tree.

Fake.

But, mostly because in our early marriage we had some rows about even having a tree, so I made a decision to buy one that I could put up myself.

We've both mellowed, and we have another fake tree, but I still put it up myself.
